Tuberculosis of Ribs and Cold Abscess

Abstract

|
Tuberculosis of ribs is rather uncommon. It had been described from time to time on last 30 years ago, but very rarely reported on today in other nations and in korea. And it’s terminology & pathogenesis is not clear on nowadays.
Although it has been said that the cold abscess on the chest wall develops as a disease spreading through parasternal lymph node and pleura, our 18 cases among 19 cases show a combination charecteristics between tubercnlosis of ribs & cold abscess, and there is no evidence of tuberculosis in other organ. Our 11 cases among 19 cases show bony change of chest radiography on shaft of rib; mainly lytic change is 6 cases(55.5%), mainly sclerotic change is 2 cases and mixed change is 3 cases, and 8 cases are negative in radiogram. And so we hope of much more reporting and experiments on pathogenesis of tuberculosis of rib & cold abscess, and their correlationship.
